This includes addressing a great deal of variability in load growth due to EVs, solar, Microgen, DERs, etc.
  • Working with industry technical experts to determine the levels of risk EPCOR is exposed to by continuing to utilize assets that are approaching end of life and make recommendations on the acceptable level of risk and potential mitigation strategies.
  • Preparing and evaluating options that address the replacement of aged infrastructure and anticipated load growth. This will include leading cross-functional technical teams to develop proposals, justifications, alternatives and estimates that address: transmission lines, underground cable, substations, P&C, Telecom, and SCADA.
  • Working with industry technical experts (other Transmission Facility Operators, Underground cable, maintenance and planning), EPCOR’s Regulatory department, the AESO and EPCOR senior management to develop a proposal to address anticipated system deficiencies.
  • Helping develop an Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) submission that provides a clear picture of what is needed such that reliable power can be delivered. This will need to address various load growth scenarios, project timelines, and costs.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert, assisting and coordinating in presenting major project developments such as the CETR proposal and land development process internally and externally to parties such as the AESO, AUC, other TFOs or interveners, and address their concerns.
